Galamsey Crackdown: Sekondi Court Arraigns Seven for Unlawful Mining

The Western Central Regional Police Command has arraigned seven individuals before the Special Court for Illegal Mining in Sekondi.

The accused Ibrahim Dauda, Michael Tettey Komlorm, Douglas Ayambila, Elvis Aborta, Nsoh Oto alias Agorogo, Kwadwo George alias Sergio, and Emmanuel Van alias Atta were charged with conspiracy to commit a crime and undertaking mining activities without a licence.

These persons have been remanded into prison custody and are scheduled to reappear before the court on 17th April 2025.

Meanwhile, in a related development, two Chinese nationals, Huan Ciongjian, 38, and Ling Yong, 56, were arrested for engaging in illegal mining activities along the banks of the Bonsa River.

All foreign nationals arrested in connection with illegal mining have since been handed over to the Ghana Immigration Service for further action.
