King Mswati Meets Mahama Today, Heads to Kumasi for Otumfuo Visit

His Majesty King Mswati III, the Head of State of the Kingdom of Eswatini, will arrive in Ghana today for a four-day state visit.

He will spend the first day in Accra before traveling to Kumasi, where he will be hosted by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, for the next three days. In 2020 Otumfuo paid a visit to King Mswati in the landlock Kingdom of southern Africa.

Talks
Today, King Mswati III will hold talks with President John Dramani Mahama at the Jubilee House. During this meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two countries is expected to be signed. In the afternoon, the King is scheduled to meet with officials at the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat in Accra before departing for Kumasi later in the day.

Kumasi itinerary
In Kumasi, the itinerary includes official visits to the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) and a tour of the historic Manhyia Palace Museum. King Mswati III will also address the National House of Chiefs and attend a grand durbar of chiefs organized in his honor at Manhyia Palace.

A Royal Banquet will be held in Kumasi on Friday evening. On Saturday, the final day of the visit, King Mswati III will join the Asantehene at a ceremony at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) before departing from Ghana.

Cooperation
King Mswati III’s visit is anticipated to significantly strengthen diplomatic and economic ties between Ghana and the Kingdom of Eswatini while deepening the historical and cultural connections between the Asante Kingdom and this southern African nation.
