Officer Drowns in River Offin Amid Galamsey Enforcement Operation

A police officer, Constable John Kwabena Dogbe has tragically lost his life after drowning in River Offin while embarking on an operation towards combating illegal mining by the Central North Regional Police command.

The officer’s body was later recovered after several hours of search by the local police and rescue team.

Although the circumstances that led to the officer drowning are not clear, Citi News sources revealed that the officer accidentally fell into the river and drowned while on an operation to combat illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.

Authorities have launched a full-scale investigation into the circumstances that led to the officer drowning.

The body of the deceased officer has been deposited at the St.Francis Xavier hospital in Assin Fosu.
