What Led to Dapilah’s Demotion? From EOCO Chief to Technical Advisor

Details have emerged regarding the reassignment of Abdulai Bashiru Dapilah, the head of the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO), who has been moved to National Security as a Technical Advisor just three months in office.

Dapilah’s reassignment is considered a demotion, and his deputy, Raymond Archer, has been promoted to the position of Acting Executive Director of EOCO.

Leaked information

According to P.K. Sarpong, an activist from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dapilah has been accused of leaking information to certain media personalities.

Sarpong stated, “He is accused of leaking details to Raymond Archer, which misled Dominic Ayine regarding Kwabena Adu Boahene.”

Sarpong referenced the extravagant press event organized by the Attorney General concerning Adu Boahene, where “wild allegations” were made based on what were claimed to be thorough investigations conducted by Archer.
He asserted, “It has now become clear that the information provided by Raymond Archer to Ayine about Adu Boahene was false, and Ayine was misled.”

No court

Sarpong also suggested that this situation explains why the Attorney General has not pursued legal action against Adu Boahene.

“There is insufficient evidence to support the wild claims made against Adu Boahene. Dapilah is being blamed for exposing this sensitive information to the public.

“The government has been embarrassed by this situation, which is why they have decided not only to replace Bashiru Dapilah but also to demote him. This adds credibility to the rumors; we can now say that what we heard was not merely speculation, but an undeniable fact.”
