Asantehene Back in Ghana, Poised for Vital Bawku Conflict Resolution Talks

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, returned to a warm welcome on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, after a trip abroad.

This visit follows a break from official duties last month.
One of the King’s immediate engagements upon his return is his mediation of the Bawku crisis, scheduled for next week at the Manhyia Palace.

Warm welcome

The King was greeted at the Prempeh I International Airport with a simple yet colorful ceremony attended by traditional authorities, including Nana Otuo Siriboe II, the Juabenhene, and Akyeamfuo Asafo Boakye Agyemang Bonsu, the Asafohene.

Other officials present to welcome His Majesty included Richard Ofori Agyeman Boadi, the Mayor of Kumasi; Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, former MP for Manhyia South Constituency and former Minister of Energy; DCOP Emmanuel Teye Cudjo, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander; and Brigadier General Matthew Opoku, GOC of the Central Command.

The Asantehene’s first stop after leaving the airport was the residence of Nana Konadu Yiadom II, the Asantehemaa.
