LA Galaxy and Ghana forward Joseph Paintsil has been sidelined for up to eight weeks with a quad injury, per numerous reports
Paintsil featured prominently for LA Galaxy last season, netting 10 times and providing 10 assists in the regular season, as well as making 29 appearances, including 28 starts.
The brilliance of the Ghana wideman in his debut season was rewarded in the MLS Cup final as his opening goal set the tone for LA Galaxy en route to victory.
Paintsil’s untimely injury comes as a major setback for LA Galaxy, who are already without star midfielder Riqui Puig as they prepare for the upcoming season.
At the moment, coach Greg Vanney’s side will continue their pre-season preparations against Minnesota United in the Coachella Valley Invitational on Wednesday.
In the larger context, Paintsil’s quad issue could potentially see him out of action for up to two months, with the earliest expected returning time in April.
Paintsil’s injury is a major blow for Ghana as he will play no part in the Black Stars’ upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifying games against Chad and Madagascar.
Paintsil joins a list of long-term absentee list for Ghana, alongside, Abdul Fatwau Issahaku (ACL), Nathaniel Adjei (ankle injury), and Alidu Seidu (ACL).
