ECG investigates disappearance of Over 1,300 containers, Minister demands accountability

Persons linked to the ruling NDC government have been linked to the disappearance of 1,357 containers belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), at the Tema Port, according to a report.

Many are of the opinion that such large quantities of containers couldn’t have gotten missing at the port without official complicity.

On Tuesday, March 25, Prof Innocent Senyo Acquah, Chairman of the investigative committee, noted that while ECG claimed to have 2,491 uncleared containers filled with cables and other essential equipment, an independent audit at the port found only 1,134 containers, leaving 1,357 missing.

Minister takes action
John Abdulai Jinapor, Minister of Energy and Green Transition, said a thorough investigation will be conducted into the missing containers. “The over 1,300 containers cannot vanish into thin air. We will ensure those responsible are held accountable,” he stated.
