Otumfuo Advances Bawku Peace Initiative, Mahama Ayariga Seeks Cooperation

Mahama Ayariga, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bawku Central, has praised Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his significant progress in the Bawku peace initiative.

He urged all parties to refrain from undermining these efforts and called for calm to ensure lasting peace in the region.

Murder
Ayariga’s remarks followed the brutal murder of Mohammed Seidu Akugri, the Bongo District Director of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA).

Akugri, a Kusasi from Bawku, was shot and killed, with his burned body later discovered in Nangodi, near Bolgatanga.

According to reports, about three months ago, some faceless people put the photo of the deceased on Facebook threatening that he will be killed.

Call for investigations
The MP, who also serves as Majority Leader, commended local youth for their restraint and urged security agencies to conduct a swift and thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.
