Volta NDC Youth Wing condemns attacks on Dr. Asiama

The Volta NDC Youth Wing has strongly condemned attacks targeted at Dr. Johnson Asiamah, the newly appointed Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG) by some leading members of the opposition New Patriotic Party.

The Youth Wing described the NPP’s actions as a “politically motivated witch-hunt” initiated by Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin and amplified by Dr. Gideon Boako.

According to a statement released by the Regional Youth Organizer, Mathias Alagbo, the NPP’s accusations against Dr. Asiamah date back to 2017, when they alleged that he had violated the Bank of Ghana Act and caused financial loss.

“Despite subjecting him to eight years of relentless persecution and court battles, the NPP failed to substantiate their claims,” the statement asserted.

The Youth Wing accused the NPP of perpetuating a pattern of persecuting and scapegoating distinguished Voltarians.

They vowed to stand in full support of Dr. Asiamah and urged all well-meaning Ghanaians to reject the NPP’s allegations and divisive politicking.

The Youth Wing emphasized the need to focus on rebuilding key institutions rather than engaging in baseless smear campaigns while urging Dr. Asiamah to remain resolute in his mission and to make both Ghana and the people of Volta proud by demonstrating excellence and commitment in revitalizing the BoG and the national economy.
